Casually Crafting Blog Hop – Masculine Makes

May 15, 2020 | Blog Hop, Card Ideas, Men & Boys card ideas

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop! The theme for our hop is – Masculine

So who are we? We are a group of Stampin’ Up demonstrators who just love to stamp when ever we can. We particularly love the type of cards that are simple and easy to make with just a few products. So would ideally suit beginner and casual crafter’s. However occasionally we will add a wow project that would suit a more avid crafter. We will be sharing our ideas on the 3rd Friday of each month and you can hop around the group and gather loads of inspiration. So grab yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, sit back & enjoy the hop!

Today’s blog hop is all about Masculine projects an area of card making many of my customers struggle with. With such a wide variety of stamps in the annual catalogue there are lots of options to chose from.

It’s Father’s day coming up next month and my dad used to love sailing in his youth so I turned to the Sail ing Home suite for this month’s projects

“My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

One Sheet Wonder Masculine Makes

I have seen lots of one sheet wonder cards and thought I would have a go at making my own.

I took the Birch background stamp and heat embossed it using Clear Stampin’ Embossing powder onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock measuring 14.9 cm by 10.5cm

I covered the sheet with inks using a sponge brayer, making sure each colour merged into the next.

I then cut the sheet into three pieces: 14.9 cm by 4.0 cm, 6.5 cm by 6.5 cm & 6.5 cm by 8.4 cm

Sailing Home – Let Hope be your Anchor

For my first card I took a matt of Whisper white card stock, measuring 10.0 cm by 14.3 cm, stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite, embossed it using the Subtle embossing folder & adhered it to a base card of thick Whisper White card. I mounted the 8.4cm by 6.5 cm piece onto a piece of Champagne Foil and attached it to the base using dimensionals.

Finally I stamped the lighthouse on a scrap of Whisper White using Gray Granite Ink and embossed it using the Subtle embossing folder and attached it to the card using Dimensionals and glue

This card is really quick and easy to make and you could easily substitute the piece from the One sheet wonder with a piece of DSP (Patterned paper).

Sailing Home – Set Sail in the direction of your Dreams

My next card is another simple card and makes use some of the coordinating dies.

This time I stamped the larger sailing boat onto the base matt using Gray Granite Ink before embossing and sticking it to the base card. I then stamped and die cut the two sail boats again embossing them before attaching to topper.

For the sentiment I followed the same process and then punched it out using the 11/2″ punch. I then mounted it onto a die cut shape form the coordinating dies.

Sailing Home – Fathers Day Card

For my third project I used the last piece to make a fathers day card. This time I added some of the Braided linen trim and some vellum die cut seaweed. The words were die cut in more of the champagne foil using the Word wishes dies. I absolutely love these dies as they cover so many annual occasions

Sail Away – Ultra quick card

For my final card I wanted to make a really quick card in less than two minutes….. You really can!

I used a base of Coastal Cabana card and stamped the compass in Bermuda bay Ink and the anchor in Gray Granite

I then stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of whisper white card and then punched another in the Champagne foil cut it in half and attached to the back. I then attached it to the base card.

Voila!

I had great fun making these projects and I would to know which one is your favourite? So please do leave me a comment.
